My vision is to train with clients according to natural movement patterns and automate them through frequent repetition.
Every human activity can be improved. This also applies to exercise. At a certain stage, it becomes necessary to transition to individual or semi-individual lessons. Each body is different, with varying strengths and needs for correction. This means that the most effective lessons are those tailored to the individual, not to mention the much greater possibilities for a creative approach. That’s why I founded the specialized studio Kompost in Průhonice.
This studio allows for a combination of various approaches, which I have gradually refined into their current form. The lessons are based on the principles of Pilates but are expanded to include the positive effects of developmental kinesiology elements, certain yoga positions, and a focus on the feet and activating muscles from them. For each client, I seek the most effective movements that they will automatize through long-term repetition.
The lessons are the result of more than ten years of searching. I first encountered exercise during my maternity leave with a CD of lessons by the famous American Pilates instructor Mary Winsor. The exercise intrigued me so much that I began attending Pilates classes in Prague, taught by Renata Sabungui. The system was still not widespread in the Czech Republic, so it was more of the traditional Pilates school that originated over 120 years ago.
This exercise emphasizes correct breathing, concentration, and strengthening the deep muscles of the body, which play a crucial role in posture. Modern Pilates schools also emphasize the rehabilitative effect. That’s why I underwent intensive instructor training and began teaching others. My first instructor was Erika Florianová, who at the time also taught the classic Pilates school of Romana Kryzanowska, a student of the founder Joseph Pilates.
I conducted my first Pilates lessons at the Aquapark Čestlice and other fitness centers and studios in Prague. Over time, I began teaching four or more hours daily, and exercise became my profession. However, I also became interested in its health effects, attending additional courses, workshops, and training on this subject. I improved my Pilates practice under the guidance of instructors such as Hana Císařová Hofrichtrová, Gabriela Němečková (Body Balance School), Daniel Muller, Jitka Miškářová (Stott School), and international instructors such as Daniela Mallach, Julian Littleford, and others.
I discovered that each instructor has a slightly different approach. The world’s Pilates schools also vary. Some emphasize strengthening, others focus on detail, some on stretching, and some on rehabilitative effects. From each, I selected the most effective aspects for my own concept, which I called Compensatory Postural Therapy – KOMPOST.
My further studies at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University played a major role in this. I spent two years studying Yoga Therapy under the guidance of Jiří Čumpelík, a great physiotherapist and yogi, and other renowned professors. In addition to many subjects related to yoga, I also studied anatomy, developmental kinesiology, and exercises for healthy backs.
All of this led me more and more to understand the proper movement in connection with proper body alignment and creating harmony between muscles. We are born with good movement and postural patterns, but later, we completely destroy them with poor habits, replacing them with incorrect ones. This leads to various difficulties, including pain.
Individual lessons are therefore constantly improving according to the needs of each client. The exercises are not short-term but long-term, so their effect lasts as long as possible. And perhaps you will find that these lessons not only interest you but also inspire a change in your approach to other areas of life.
Try it and see.
